About Lakeport, CA

Why we love living in Lake County

LAKE ACTIVITIES

If you are wondering why our residents love Lakeport, here’s why. Clear Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake entirely within California, with 68 square miles of surface area. Its warm water makes it ideal for recreation, including swimming, water skiing, sailing, kayaking, fishing, and boating. While out on Clear Lake, enjoy its scenic beauty and abundant wildlife — and the cleanest air in California. Slow down, enjoy nature, and relax.

NATURAL WILDLIFE

Lake County is teeming with rare birds, elk, foxes, bobcats, deer, otters, turtles, and recognized as the “bass capital of the west.”  It has more fish per acre than any lake in the United States.  Mount Konocti is also home to more than 300 species of birds, so get your binoculars!  You can slip on your hiking boats and catch a peek of the wildlife as Lake County as has over 100 miles of hiking trails.  Or, jump on your bike and ride through the rolling flats through vineyards and orchards to get a catch of a rare blue heron!

WINE TASTING

Considered as one of the 12 “Next Great Wine Regions” by Food & Wine Magazine, enjoy award-winning wine without the Napa crowds.  Quality grapes, visionary winemakers, and high elevation terroir make Lake County one of California’s premier viticultural regions. With 35-plus wineries, 180 winegrape growers, and almost 9,500 acres planted in wine grapes, the area is reclaiming its reputation as it recently collected 84 awards, including Best of Class, in the SF Chronicle wine competition.

DOWNTOWN LAKEPORT

Just a few miles from Lakeshore Estates Mobilehome Park, enjoy downtown Lakeport.  Incorporated in 1888, Lakeport is the oldest community in Lake County.  While exploring downtown, check out the historic museum, boat rentals, Lakeport cinema, or one of the many good restaurants and local breweries.  Don’t miss the weekly summer concert series in Library Park!
